*SUMMARY*
Topics discussed:
1) Presentation from Ed Grace and Mike Gaspar of AT&T.
2) Purchase negotiation update.
3) New products to consider.
4) Evaluation status(evaluation team)
5) Presentation to CommonLine meeting.
=================
1) *PRESENTATION FROM ED GRACE AND MIKE GASPAR OF AT&T*
Guests, Ed Grace and Mike Gaspar of AT&T Infosecurity Corp. Joined the call to
answer questions about their encryption products, CPT (toolkit) and Secret
Agent (executable application). In the course of discussion, it began to
appear that Secret Agent might be a better option than the CPT for embedding
encryption functionality in SBS. It is compatible with VB, Delphi, and any
other language that can call Windows DLLs. There are 16- and 32-bit versions.
From their description, it seems to provide key management and encryption
functionality that is compatible with the standards we defined in the addendum.
Their ordinary price is $60/license. It sounds as if a license is required
for every distinct concurrent public/private key-pair (as had been the case
with NAI). The committee presented the $20/license price quoted by NAI, to
which Ed Grace responded they could provide attractive pricing.
He will be providing the test team with Secret Agent and documentation. He
will be providing Scott or Tim with pricing information.
2) *PURCHASE NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE
nothing to report
3) *NEW PRODUCTS TO CONSIDER*
- Entrust (Dawn Harris, Scott Fullerton)
Scott called Greg Wheaton of Entrust and was informed Greg had passed the
request to another department because his own was unable to service this in a
timely fashion (!?!?). [5/14 After the meeting, Greg set up arrangements to
fax the evaluation agreement. The agreement, however, only references Great
Lakes. Scott called back to find out whether this could govern the testing of
all members in the team, but received no response].
- Encrypt
Scott was unable to follow up, but will do so after the conference
3) *EVALUATION STATUS (Brian Wilson, Evaluation Team)*
a)RSA DSI
Brian Wilson sent out requirements to team for comment and is awaiting
response. No testing activity to report.
4) *PRESENTATION TO COMMONLINE MEETING*
The sub-committee recommended we present the current status. There is nothing
at this point to request of them. In detail, we would present the following:
1) Brief summary of NAI's inability to license PGP toolkit using RSA
2) Review discussions with CompuServe/AOL and our current direction to stay
with that service for this processing season.
3) Review change in procedures to obtain CompuServe Business Account.
4) Describe our current evaluation process, requirements and candidates.
5) Present estimated completion dates
a) Arrive at a standard/product recommendation by 7/1
b) Have product purchased before 10/1
c) CommonLine on new standard by ?
