CmnLn Elec Exch: Draft
Draft of message for CommonLine members. Please review and respond with any
suggestions.
This bulletin describes two important changes to the procedures outlined in the
CommonLine Reference Manual (pp 9-5, 9-6) for establishing new CompuServe
Business Accounts (CBA's). Please review the following and notify your
customer service workers of the changes.
As a result of their recent restructuring after acquiring CompuServe, America
OnLine (AOL) has made two minor changes to the procedures for obtaining an
account to use their mail services.
1) Automated Fax System Discontinued.
The automated fax system as described in the manual on page 9-5 has been
discontinued. This service allowed applicants to request application forms
using a touch-tone phone. AOL has not announced any plans to resume this
service.
2) New Telephone Numbers to Request Application Forms
The two numbers provided on page 9-5 ("Obtaining a CBA application") are no
longer in service. Instead, to request application forms, call (800)
226-0928.
In every other respect the process for applying and the level of service should
be the same. Specifically, the application fee will still be waived for
CommonLine participants. They should follow the instructions outlined on page
9-6 ("Completing the CBA Application") to qualify.
