Krypto-Tech & Entrust evaluations
Just an FYI as of Friday afternoon on the status of these two toolkits.
Krypto-Tech's software that has received the ICSA approval is their
Krypto-LAN product which runs on single, secured domains. Their product
that is used for Internet mail appears to require pretty high level of
technical competence & looks like it requires C or C++. They seem to have
a number of international clients, but not many United States clients. I
did not pursue them after looking at their web site in more detail.
However, Entrust Technologies' Entrust/File product does appear to be a
pretty good candidate for further consideration. They are a subsidiary of
Nortel (Northern Telecom), so they also have a big telecommunications name
behind them like Information Security Corp. does. I've talked to the
salesman, Greg Wheaton, & he wants an e-mail outlining who we are & how
many licenses, etc. we need so he can go to his management to see what kind
of a deal they can work out. Their "off the shelf" price is $5,000 for
their development kit for one platform (32 bit Windows) & $2,000 for any
additional platforms (16 bit Windows) with no additional costs for runtime
objects or clients. I didn't get into asking for an evaluation kit yet.
I'm going to try to get the e-mail out to him w/ a "best guess" of the
number of licenses Monday morning & I'll try to get eval copies once I talk
to him again. I tried to attach a copy of a white paper & a brochure off
their website but it was too big for the list serve. If you would like to
see them, check out http://www.entrust.com/toolkit/index.htm. I'll try to
keep information posted to the list as I get it.
