*SUMMARY*
Topics discussed: Ominous news(not yet authenticated) that NAI is discontinuing
its offer of the 4.01 toolkit.
==================
*NAI Update*
On Wednesday evening, Jeff Harrill, NAI manager of product development, told
Scott that NAI is no longer selling the toolkit, because this either "stretches
or is outside the scope" of NAI's agreement with RSA DSI. Scott reached Brian
Jackman Thursday morning to get more information. Brian, though, claimed to
know as little as Scott: he had heard the same thing from the same source at
about the same time. Since then Brian has not been able to get any more
information.

There are many things about this story that do not make sense -- to list a few:
If it stretches the scope now, why didn't it earlier when they were selling the
toolkit? Why for that matter are we learning about it now and not a month ago,
when Brian first proposed the offer? Why are we hearing about this from
product development and not from a more appropriate source?

The group agreed to adjourn until Monday - to wait for the complete story to
unfold and, should it indeed unfold as ill as it portends, to prepare for the
next meeting by examining our options.
==================
*Letter of Intent*
This went out on the CommonLine listserve Wednesday. It was scheduled also to
go out via the NCHELP broadcast fax on Thursday. Obviously, this will be
postponed until we can find out the status of the NAI offer.
==================
*Correction to 3/19 Minutes*
The last minutes did not include discussion on specifying key type in the
subject header.
Paul Logston formulated a proposal drawn from the discussion of the prior week
and posted this on the listserve ("Proposal for stating key type in CommonLine
subject lines" 3/19/98. The group recommended 1) shortening the key type
identifier to three characters and 2) making the key-type identifier mandatory
in the next release. They accepted the proposal with these recommendations.
 Mike Brannon will draft this and include in Addendum revisions.
==================
